The Weddington High School Prom Committee hosted the Annual Prom Fashion Show last Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Weddington High School auditorium.
The hosts for the show were Genevive Baptiste and Connor Flynn who entertained the audience with animated jokes and audience interaction.
The sponsors at the show included Makenzie Jades, Men’s Wearhouse, and David’s Bridal. There were many different colorful tuxes and dresses from the businesses, and they awarded giveaways including corsages. Also, as the audience entered the auditorium, the students were handed a card for a discount on their prom dresses if bought from one of the three sponsors.
The auditorium was packed, and the crowd grew more enthusiastic with each senior couple. The ladies got the chance to show off their gorgeous dresses and the gentlemen were able to rock their tuxedos and their dance moves. One of the Prom Fashion Show organizers, Mrs Washington, gave some unique advice: “Be a pineapple, stand tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside.”
Senior Mabrey Willet, was asked how she felt to be in the spotlight. “In the spotlight, I felt so confident and happy to have that opportunity with all of my friends!” she answered.
At the end of the magical night the prom theme was revealed. It was Gold Gala! But what do these students think about the theme Gold Gala? “I think it’s very creative and I’ve never seen it before,” Grayson Bopp answers.
Mrs. Washington was asked how she thinks the students enjoyed the Prom Fashion Show this year? She responded, “When the seniors walk down the stage, it’s kind of a surreal moment. They realize that prom season is actually coming up and happening soon.”
