Weddington Girls varsity basketball team put up a hard fight to the Marvin Ridge Mavericks on February 5, 2026 at the Weddington High School Basketball Stadium. The Warriors thrived with their lead scorers being Caroline Clark, 21 points, Bella Denton, 10 points, and Myra Ukwu, 10 points. Weddington was up at half time with the score being 27-24. The team put up a spirited fight until the final whistle. Unfortunately, they fell just short in a hard contest with a final score of 51-46.

Lead scorer Caroline Clark was asked how she felt going into a game against their biggest rivals, “I felt confident that we could make it a close game and compete with them the whole time” she says. When asked about her mindset as the top scorer in the tough game she states, “I felt good that I was able to help my team by scoring and keeping it a close game”. While this game didn’t go their way, with hard work they can come back and beat those Marvin Ridge Ponies next year.
