Weddington High School has one of the best football teams in all of North Carolina. In the 2023 season, the Weddington team beat Hoggard High in the state championship. In 2024, the football team had a great season. They were winning every football game up until the last game before the state championship. In that game they played Grimsley High and lost 23-35. This ended their season with their record being 13-1. Besides the defeat, the spirit of the Weddington High football team remained unbroken. The 2024 season will serve as a reminder of the disappointing outcome that comes with playing the game and will symbolize the value of teamwork and perseverance.

With the help of their coaches, the players learned to change their disappointment in losses into motivation for victories. This 2025 season is looking promising with a good chance of states. This year, the team can’t give up on each other and must keep pushing through each game. They have to trust each other and most importantly, they need to have fun!
