Do you have any prior Student Government experience?

Wyatt Pederson, Sophomore President – I don’t have any prior student government experience yet.

Ella Sprenkle, Sophomore President – My student government experience comes from my time in middle school. I was involved for all three years.

Kendal Williams, Sophomore Vice President – Yes! I served as Freshman Vice President last year.

Mia Farley, Sophomore Secretary – Yes, last year I was the Freshman Class Secretary.

Ashlyn Berry, Freshman President – I was part of my old school’s student leadership club but I have never officially been an officer.

 

What prompted or encouraged you to run this year?

Wyatt Pederson, Sophomore President – The desire to take action and lead. It would be a good experience for me.

Ella Sprenkle, Sophomore President – I was encouraged to run this year because I think it will be lots of fun and I love to lead.

Kendal Williams, Sophomore Vice President – I had such a fantastic experience on student government last year and love to work and communicate with others.

Mia Farley, Sophomore Secretary – I really enjoyed student government last year which made me want to do it again this year.

Ashlyn Berry, Freshman President – This is my first year at Weddington and I thought this would be a great opportunity to meet people and get plugged into the school!

 

What is your platform?

Wyatt Pederson, Sophomore President – Make everyone feel important and equal I want to make it fun while doing it.

Ella Sprenkle, Sophomore President – I want to make WHS a better place by increasing the amount of spirit days so that everybody can get creative and hands on.

Kendal Williams, Sophomore Vice President – I want to make Weddington a better place for everyone. I myself do not have a specific reason on how to change Weddington, but I am here to listen to other people’s thoughts and opinions on how to make Weddington better!

Mia Farley, Sophomore Secretary – I want our school spirit as a whole to improve.

Ashlyn Berry, Freshman President – I would love to promote the Rachel’s Kindness Campaign even more! I think it’s doing important things and I want to encourage Weddington to Spread kindness throughout the community.

 

What experience makes you fit for this position?

Wyatt Pederson, Sophomore President – Leadership in sports, club, fundraisers, and community service.

Ella Sprenkle, Sophomore President – The experience that makes me fit this position is leading a 5k in 8th grade raising money for endangered elephants.

Kendal Williams, Sophomore Vice President – As previously stated, I was Vice President of the Freshman class last year. I also took part in Weddington Middle School’s government as an officer, so I have a lot of experience with student government.

Mia Farley, Sophomore Secretary – My previous year as class secretary.

Ashlyn Berry, Freshman President – I have been the captain of three soccer teams so I have experience leading and listening.

 

Outside of Student Government, in what ways have you made Weddington a better place?

Wyatt Pederson, Sophomore President – I try to make Weddington a better place by volunteering community services, and expanding friends throughout religion.

Ella Sprenkle, Sophomore President – Outside of student government, I’ve made WHS a better place by including anybody in something that I’m doing so nobody is alone.

Kendal Williams, Sophomore Vice President – I’ve made Weddington a better place by participating in community service projects and volunteer work. I love to help other people and make sure that everyone always has a say in something.

Mia Farley, Sophomore Secretary – I am always very welcoming to new people. And love to show school spirit.

Ashlyn Berry, Freshman President – I am part of the environmental club so three times a week I stay after school and help collect the recycling.

 

On a more lighthearted note, what’s your favorite thing to do outside of school? Are there any hobbies you have that may interest your voters?

Wyatt Pederson, Sophomore President – First off I like spending time at the lake and with friends. I also like to play soccer, basketball, and lacrosse.

Ella Sprenkle, Sophomore President – My favorite thing to do outside of school is to volunteer in a program called Take On Sports. This program gives kids with disabilities a chance to play on teams and get to play their favorite sport.

Kendal Williams, Sophomore Vice President – In my free time, I play lacrosse for Weddington as well as a local travel team. I also love spending time with my friends and family!

Mia Farley, Sophomore Secretary – My favorite thing to do outside of school is to play lacrosse.

Ashlyn Berry, Freshman President – I love to play soccer! I play for Carolina Rapids and I love it! I also live off of music! It gets me through the day!

 

Finally, is there anything else about you that you would like you voters to know?

Wyatt Pederson, Sophomore President – I work hard and I am like every other student out there. I make friends easily and I think that I would be the perfect guy for the job.

Ella Sprenkle, Sophomore President – I would like my voters to know that nobodies voice will go unheard and I’m open to any ideas that you have to suggest.

Kendal Williams, Sophomore Vice President – I would love to represent our sophomore class as your Vice President this year.

Mia Farley, Sophomore Secretary – I am very dedicated to making WHS a better place!

Ashlyn Berry, Freshman President – I can’t wait for a great school year with all of you!
