Ever since Tom Brady unretired from the NFL in the spring, there have been reports of tension between him and his wife, Gisele Bundchen, causing people to wonder if they were getting divorced. A few weeks ago, this rumor was revealed to be true. After finding out about the separation, football fans have been wondering two things: why are they divorcing and what caused their separation? A day before news about the divorce was made public, a source told US Weekly that Gisele gave Tom an ultimatum between their family and his NFL career. Tom, on multiple occasions, has said that he does not plan on retiring anytime soon, so of course he chose the latter decision. He said, “I love the sport, I love my teammates, and I want to do a good job for this team like I always have. So, no retirement in my future.” Many speculate that this was the reason that the two called it quits. 

On an episode of his podcast, Tom stated that he doesn’t plan on quitting the NFL after the 2022 football season ends. He stated, “I’ve never quit anything in my life. I’ve made a commitment to this team and I love this team and I love this organization. I want to keep fighting as hard as I can and I’m trying to do better. I’m always trying to work hard and I’m always trying to commit more to the things that are important to me. My team is very important to me and I certainly want to be the best I can be for them.”

Gisele has threatened to divorce Tom for years, according to a report by TMZ on October 7. The arguments were all over the same subject, football, which is the same reason why they are divorcing. On the same day, another source told People, “The problems are ten years old. This has been going on forever. This is nothing new to either of them. Gisele is “done” with Tom and doesn’t think their relationship can be “repaired.”

Another source who claimed to be close to Gisele said, “She is done with their marriage. She was upset about it for a long time and it’s still difficult, but she feels like she needs to move on. She doesn’t believe that her marriage can be repaired. She is just trying to figure out her life. She doesn’t have much contact with Tom. A few other sources told Page Six that the couple had separated before, with Gisele even consulting a divorce attorney back in 2015. “Tom and Gisele have separated before. Every couple of years they have a big fight and she has left Tom before, but she always came back. They always worked through things, and Tom was hopeful they would do it again this time,” according to one of the sources.

Ever since the news of the divorce, Gisele has been dedicating more of her time to her modeling career. She is currently the face of the new Burberry campaign. Currently, she is working in NYC. Both Tom and Gisele have been very private about what’s going on.
