Changes in Guidance

Changes+in+Guidance

Weddington High School said farewell to the beloved Dan McCloskey September 13th as he accepts his new job as Union County Public School lead counselor. McCloskey had been with Weddington for 13 years before his departure, helping students and staff with any complications that came his way as the head of guidance. He is one of the many minds behind Weddington that allows it to run accordingly. Although Weddington is sad to announce Mr. McCloskey’s departure, they are elated he will be heading the guidance department for the entire Union County district.

Mrs. Jackie Washington took over the head guidance counselor position starting on September 20th, with Dr. Mary Jordan also joining the guidance team.

Along with the change in the guidance staff, Weddington is implementing a new way to divide counselors among students, now being assigned to students based on grade level as to by last name as has been done in previous years. Mary Jordan will be assigned 9th grade, Tracy Reed will be assigned 10th grade, Mallika Rajan will be assigned 11th grade, and Jackie Washington will be assigned 12th grade.

If any Weddington student has any questions, problems, or concern about their schedule, college applications, or standardized tests, the Weddington Witness encourages them to stop by the guidance office (located off the corner of the Main Hall and E-Hall) so they can speak with their assigned counselor to resolve any issues.
