A week after the “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” movie came out in theaters, I went to see the movie with my dad. This was an interesting experience because he’s a guy and not the biggest Swiftie. I was originally going to go with my friends, but they realized they had things to do at the last minute. So I asked my mom if she wanted to go instead, but she had to work. So in the end, my dad was the last choice. We ended up being the only people in the movie theaters when we watched the movie together, wearing red tops, in honor of Taylor’s album, “Red.” Now, here’s the review…
A few weeks ago, I watched the “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” movie in theatres. This was an interesting experience for me, considering I attended with my father. Originally, I was supposed to go with my friends. However, life got in the way and I ended up having to find other people to go with. I asked my mother, and she couldn’t – so my last resort was my dad. Now, when I say my dad is not a Swiftie, I would say he doesn’t know any of her songs besides the mainstream ones. However, when we got there, I was able to gain a funny and amazing memory of my dad. Not only did he and I match, wearing red tops to honor the album “Red”, but we also got to be the only people in the theatre. Now, here is the review…
First, I will say this. The editing was very good, especially for a concert movie. Her Los Angeles concert was filmed for the movie, and it was the last stop for the Eras Tour in America. The movie started with her Lover album in 2019. The opening song was “Miss Americana and the Heartbreaker Prince,” and Taylor went on to perform “Cruel Summer,” “The Man,” and “You Need To Calm Down,”. She then closed this era with the song “Lover.” My favorite songs from this era are the first three.
Now onto the next era, “Fearless.” This was the album that made Taylor famous, back in 2008. This is one of my favorite Taylor albums, but unfortunately, she only performed three songs, which were “Fearless,” “You Belong With Me,” and “Love Story.” The last two songs are my favorite from this era.
For her third era, Taylor performed a few songs from her “Evermore” album, which was one of her two albums that came out in 2020. She performed “Willow,” “Marjorie,” “Champagne Problems,” and “Tolerate It.” “Champagne Problems” and “Willow” are my favorite songs from this era. Also in this era, Taylor wore a long dress and kind of dressed up like a witch.
For her fourth era, Taylor performed a few songs from her “Reputation” album, which is one of my favorite Taylor albums along with “Fearless” and “Red.” She opened this era with “…Ready for It?,” and then she performed “Delicate,””Don’t Blame Me,” and “Look What You Made Me Do.” All of the songs from this era are my favorite. “Reputation” came out in 2017.
For her fifth era, Taylor only performed one song from her 2010 album, “Speak Now.” Personally, I wish she had given this album way more love like she did for her others. The song she performed was “Enchanted” which isn’t one of my favorite songs from her. I wished she had performed “Mean” and “Back to December,” because they are my two favorite songs from the “Speak Now” albums.
For her sixth album, Taylor performed a few songs from her album “Red,” which was released in 2012. She performed her songs “22,” “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “I Knew You Were Trouble,” and the 10-minute version of “All Too Well.” During the first song, Taylor went and hugged one of Kobe Bryant’s daughters.
For her seventh era, Taylor performed six songs from her album “Folklore,” which was her first album released in 2020. She performed “The 1,” “The Last Great American Dynasty,” “August,” “Illicit Affairs,” and “My Tears Ricochet.” I love all the songs from this era.
For her eighth era, Taylor performed five songs from her album “1989,” which was released in 2014. She also recently released “Taylor’s Version” of the album. She performed “Style,” “Blank Space,” “Shake It Off,” and “Bad Blood.”
After finishing up her 1989 era, Taylor performed her surprise set for the concert. The surprise set had two songs in it. First, on her guitar, she performed “Our Song,” which is from her debut album. Then, she performed “You’re On Your Own Kid” on her piano. That song is from “Midnights,” which I’m going to get into right now…
For her ninth and final era, Taylor performed seven songs from her most recent album, “Midnights,” which was released in 2022. She performed “Lavender Haze,” “Anti-Hero,” “Midnight Rain,” “Vigilante Shit,” “Bejeweled,” “Mastermind,” and then she closed out the concert movie with “Karma.” My favorite song from this era is the first one.
All in all, I will give the concert movie a 10 out of 10. I am a Swiftie and I loved almost all of the songs, and as I said at the beginning of the article, the editing was very well done, especially for a concert movie. However, I do wish that Taylor had done a few songs from her debut album like she did for her others. The movie was almost three hours long, and unfortunately, because of the time, some of the songs had to be cut. These songs included “The Archer” from Lover, “Wildest Dreams” from 1989, “No Body, No Crime” from Evermore, “Long Live” from Speak Now, and “Cardigan” from Folklore.
According to CNBC, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” made $150 million in the US and over $200 million internationally. As of a few days ago, the Eras Tour concert movie is the second-highest money-making concert movie of all time. It is right behind “Michael Jackson’s This Is It.” All of the money from the Eras Tour and the concert movie has even made Taylor a billionaire!
