With coming back to school, students and teachers were excited to get their clubs back up and running, but many might have noticed an update in the sign up process.
Many returning students remember the process of going into the virtual club fair, and picking out an interesting club, but a change over the summer has revealed many clubs cut and a completely new sign up process. This is thanks mainly thanks to a past teacher, Mrs. Smith, and our current choir teacher, Mrs. McFarland. Who has had this project in mind since 2024. They realized the club system needed to be fixed when there came issues of disorganization and lack of adult presences during some club activities. Mrs. McFarland has said that the reason for this change was because they wanted “People to be able to have a great experience, but the cubs be meaningful.”
Although, some students and teachers may be annoyed at the new process at best, or be distraught that one of their favorite clubs was shut down at worst. This happens because of a new rule, stating that a club needs to have at least 10 members in order to be sustainable. So D & D Club for example, was taken down, upsetting a student, saying “ It’s not fair that one of my favorite clubs was taken down just because of the new rules”
General consensus on the system is crossed, but until the system officially gets off its feet there are still problems, or benefits, yet to come.
