As the 2025-26 school year begins the student body continues to face abrupt changes. Staff have left, new programs have been implemented and new rules have been created. I think we would all like to get some questions answered. The biggest of these might be surrounding the new principle, Mr. Beals.
Who is our new principal?
In short, Mr. Beals is an avid arts & sports supporter and a family man with three kids of his own. One already in college and two within Cuthbertson schools.
Mr. Beals worked for three years at CATA and said “[Those years were] the greatest professional opportunity I’ve ever had. But beyond that, it’s the relationships that I had with the staff there and…with the kids there…I loved being there and I loved being there with them.
He greets every student in the morning to make sure he can see them and they can see him; who believes “The connections, whether it’s with students or staff or families for that matter, is the best part of the job.” He attends football games and cheers “a little too loud” because his competitive spirit spreads beyond just the Blumey awards and the yearly musicals. Mr. Beals wants to bring his competitiveness into our spirit as a school and provide a path for “excellence in all that we do.”

Dr. Newman, our new vice principal, is an influence for the ICC. “[Dr. Newman is] doing a lot of things here around student life, clubs, and such.” When it comes to Dr. Newman and her movement from CATA to Weddington, Mr. Beals was glad she joined him when he was given this new opportunity at Weddington.
Remember Mr. Beals is here as both a sounding board and a guiding hand. He welcomes any and all students that need to talk with him in person or over email.
