In an extremely close game versus Marvin Ridge, the Weddington Warriors continued their winning streak in the game on February 23rd. The game was held at Porter Ridge, and the two teams fought for the title of “Conference Tournament Champions.” Weddington ultimately came out victorious, after fighting an extremely close battle, coming out with a final score of 52-51.
Leading scorers for the Warriors consisted of KJ Younger with 24 points, Grant Hamilton scoring 11 points, and Jack Ellyson with 8 points. The team’s leading rebounders were KJ Younger with 5 rebounds, Grant Hamilton grabbing 4 rebounds, and Jack Ellyson getting 3 rebounds. Aidan Cook had 5 assists, and Jaden Nnaji had 2.
“It felt really good to beat Marvin, especially for the conference championship. It’s always exciting to win against our biggest rivals, and it was a great environment,” senior Jack Ellyson stated.
The Warriors plan on keeping up this winning streak as they enter the playoffs. They hope that their intense energy and positive attitudes will help them advance far into the post-season games.
