This was an intense game for the Weddington varsity boys basketball team as they battled Marvin Ridge at the home basketball stadium. The game was a close call for the Weddington Warriors as they scored one goal past the Marvin Ridge mavericks. During half time the Warriors had a score of 12-13 with the Mavericks in the lead.
The Warriors played a tight game but managed to pull through in the end with a score of 52-51. Leading scores were KJ Younger scoring 24; Grant Hamilton, 11; and Jack Ellyson; 8. Top rebounders were KJ Younger with 7; Jack Ellyson with 5; and Grant Hamilton with 4. Aidan Cook had 5 assists, while Jack Ellyson, Mason Zepp, and Jaden Nnaji all had 2.
Coach Ellington commented “I felt good about the game, Marvin is obviously a rival of ours and it always feels good to beat your rivals.” How do you think the players did? He responds, “It was a close game and I thought that our players kept their focus, composure, and did what they needed to do. ”
