Who are our 2024 Republican Presidential candidates?
The Republican party recently had a Republican GOP debate in Miami on November 8, 2023, where all the candidates competed against Joe Biden. Currently, 5 people from the republican party are running, while 6 former candidates were people who dropped out. The 5 candidates running are former President Donald Trump, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley.
Former President Donald Trump didn’t “loom large” as stated by npr.org and wasn’t there but he had his campaign and currently has the most support from the republican party by far. He has multiple criminal records against him and was impeached twice but not removed. He has the highest chance according to polls however of winning this election.
Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy is one of the youngest candidates at age 38 has written multiple books and is an entrepreneur. It’s his first time in politics but he has good knowledge having graduated from Yale University and Harvard University. He also has a fair chance at winning but not as predicted as much as Donald Trump.
Former NJ Governor Chris Christie ran for president before against Trump in 2016 but dropped out. He became the governor of NJ in 2009 and left office in 2018 so he has experience in politics.
Florida governor Ron DeSantis is another popular candidate for people and has said to make America better. He had Florida open up its schools a little earlier than other states around the US. He’s more of a firm leader.
Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley has some political experience from being the youngest governor in the U.S. in South Carolina specifically. She resigned early, however, to become US ambassador to the UN under President Trump as well when he was in charge.
These are all the candidates running for the Republican party after the recent Miami GOP debate but are going to get smaller as more people either get voted off or drop out. Even though some candidates have a higher chance of winning the election, these are not official and can change at any time. The Israel-Hamas conflict was mentioned and all candidates were asked to give their opinions on it the debate was a lot about it, as well as the economy and changes brought to the U.S. May the best candidate win the race.
