As the community prepares for the Thanksgiving fall break, many look forward to the Christmas season, when sales skyrocket and holiday rom-coms dominate the Hallmark Channel. On November 22nd, Weddington Town Hall hosted its annual tree lighting event. Filled with choirs, crisp weather, and food, the people of Weddington gathered together to celebrate the holiday spirit of our small town. The decoration of the town hall Christmas tree has been a tradition in Weddington for years, and it always raises spirits and fulfills its job of bringing people together for the upcoming holiday season. One WHS student who has gone to the Christmas Tree Lighting three years in a row has stated, “It’s always fun to just get out there. And watching the little kids sing in their choir put a smile on so many faces.”

The essence of the holiday season extends beyond Weddington. Union County’s Christmas Parade featured the WHS marching band and Ms. Union County princess, Riya Vasa. But before we rush into our holiday celebrations, we must first take time to be grateful and humble. This Thanksgiving, let someone know how much they do for you, and how thankful you are for them. Have a safe and lively Thanksgiving, Warriors!
