Preparing for the 2019-2020 School Year
With the 2018-19 school year underway in its second semester, it’s time to start preparing for the next school year. Many students already have an idea of the classes that they are going to take next year and beyond. However, several are conflicted about the years to come. The counselors understand this and that is why they are holding “Registration Information Nights.” As on the school calendar and website, here are the dates for Registration Information Nights.
IMPORTANT 2019-2020 WHS REGISTRATION DATES
- Tuesday, March 12 (6:00 p.m., WHS auditorium): Registration Information Night for Parents (current Grades 9-11)
- Friday, March 15: PowerSchool registration portal opens for students currently in Grades 9-11 to input course requests
- Tuesday, April 16 (6:00 p.m., WHS auditorium): Registration Information Night for Parents (current Grade 8)
- Tuesday, April 30 (during school day): WHS counselors visit WMS to facilitate student registration
- Monday, May 13 (6:00 p.m.): Student-Led Informational Meeting and School Tours for All Rising 9th Grade Students (current Grade 8)
As you may notice, on the schedule, there is also the date when the PowerSchool registration portal will open for students, which is Friday, March 15. As far as registration goes, students are always advised to take classes that interest them and that are a little challenging for them. Many students choose to take Honors, AP classes, or even classes at South Piedmont Community College. A wonderful thing about Weddington High is that counselors are always available to talk to students about scheduling for the following year, scheduling changes, and how to register for types of classes. If you ever have any questions, see your school counselor.
